A murder many thought was a hate crime now could be the result of domestic violence.
32-year-old mother of five Shaima Alhimidi was found on March 21 having been beaten so severely she died of the wounds three days later. According to authorities a note was next to her body that made the attack seem racially motivated. Part of the note read, “go back to your own country you terrorist”
Now some 7-months later Shaima’s husband 48-year-old Kassim Alhimidi is under arrest.
The family lives in El Cajon, an east San Diego County city with one of the nations largest immigrant Muslim populations.
Shaima’s husband was a popular figure at her Islamic memorial … where he publicly pleaded for help to find his wife’s killer after throwing his body across her linen covered corps while hysterically sobbing.
Kassim is accused of beating his wife to death and set to be arraigned on Tuesday the 13th.
Veterans Day is technically on November 11th but since that was on a Sunday the Federal holiday is being observed today Monday November 12th. All federal offices will be closed along with some schools and some municipalities. Check with your local offices before heading over
It now seems certain that the incumbent Republican Brian Bilbray has lost his bid for reelection to Democrat Scott Peters. Peters is hanging on to an 814 vote lead as absentee and provisional ballots are counted. Peters says he is going to Washington D-C for freshman orientation even though there are still 350,000 ballots left from the county to be counted. No word on how many of those ballots are for the city of San Diego.
