Hot temperatures are going to fry San Diego County over the next three days and powerful winds will scour the East County. Today we’re expecting to hit 88 degrees along the coast breaking the last record of 86. Winds are going to gust at over 85-miles-per-hour according to the National Weather Service. At this point there isn’t a high fire danger warning but that could change. San Diego County does have several “Cool Zones” across the county. To check out the list just Google “San Diego County Cool Zones”.

San Diego County’s Board of Supervisors is meeting this morning at 9:00 AM. They are going to talk about raising building permit fees to help pay for fire protection in the unincorporated parts of the county. They want to raise the fee from 47 cents per square foot to 52.

San Diego City Council is meeting at 10:00 AM and on the agenda is the Black Mountain Open Space Park plan.

Also at 10:00 this morning San Diego County Water Authority is launching their water conservation campaign at the San Vicente Dam.

This afternoon at 1:15 Mayor Kevin Faulconer, Councilman Mark Kersey, Councilwoman Sherri Lightner, Councilman Scott Sherman and a pothole Repair Crew are talking to the press about the mayors infrastructure projects funding in the new city budget. Faulconer is calling his budget the “One San Diego” budget and repairing pothole is a big part of it. They’ll be at 30th Street and Date Street filling in some potholes.

Tonight at 5:00 San Diego Unified School District Board of Education is meeting about the 2015-2016 budget. There is a proposal to have that budget drafted when the 2014-2015 budget is adopted. It’s supposed to force the district to plan long term. You know not spend this year at the expense of next.

Two sentencings of note this afternoon both in El Cajon’s courthouse.

In Department 11 James Solak is being sentenced after pleading guilty to stealing copper wire from multiple schools and businesses

Then in Department 2 Blaine Anthony Arellano will hear his fate for assaulting his roommate, forcing her to stab him.

And finally at 10:00 AM 16 finalist are competing for $70,000 at the University of San Diego’s fourth annual Social Innovation Challenge. The contest between San Diego college students is to come up with a solution for one of the world’s economic, environmental or social problems.

A skateboarder is dead and a 17-year-old girl is under arrest. According to witnesses late last night just before 11:00 in the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and Carlsbad boulevard the skater was hit by a silver Chrysler sedan that sped off after the accident. Police found the car about a mile away and arrested the teen driver.

The record setting cold and stormy weather on the east coast is hitting home in San Diego. Many flights in and out of San Diego have been canceled, delayed, or diverted. Flights coming from or heading to airports in New York, Baltimore, D.C., or any of the airports in the storm affected swath across the east coast are affecting arrivals and departures in San Diego. For those trying to get here I bet it’s really disappointing, for those trying to leave probably not so bad. San Diego is expecting clear skies and tempters in the mid 70’s today.

Better here than there.

Food trucks and medical marijuana are today’s topics for Interim Mayor Todd Gloria’s press conference at 10:00 AM.

Then at 1:00 this afternoon San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors is meeting about how they are going to deal with California’s drought.

At 2:00 PM San Diego City Council’s Economic Development and Intergovernmental Relations Committee is getting together for a special meeting. They are going to talk about one of their economic development plans, and the city’s hiring practices.

At 12:30 this afternoon the Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell is coming back to San Diego after two-moths at sea in the Eastern Pacific. While out they caught drug smugglers and saved three stranded fishermen.

Two notable arraignments in court today, both at 1:30 PM.

In Chula Vista’s courthouse Ramiro Espinoza is being arraigned and accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend with her 4-year-old very close by.

And in El Cajon’s courthouse Samuel Remson and Dominique Woods are being arraigned for supposedly stealing mail from over 100 people.

Tonight at 5:00 San Diego’s Armed Services YMCA is hosting is annual Father & Daughter Dance. They’re expecting 450 fathers and daughters.

And finally also at 5:00 PM the San Diego Military Advisory Council is celebrating its 10th anniversary at PETCO Park.
