Brazen robbery at the WalMart on College Avenue has police on the lookout. Last night at 10:00 the robber walked up to a clerk, pulled a gun out and fired three shots into the ceiling all while demanding cash. The store was open but none of the customers or employees were hurt. The suspect fled in a silver Mustang. He is described as a black man, 30’ish, heavy set, about 5 foot 8 inches, with some facial hair and maybe dreadlocks.

Today is a heavy court day.

First thing this morning at 8:30 former San Diego police officer Christopher Hays is set to be arraigned 30-year-old Hays is accused of felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor sexual battery. Three women say that Hays groped them and made them do things for him after he searched them.

Then this afternoon at 1:30 there are three arraignments and a sentencing. In El Cajon’s courthouse Latif Raimo is hearing his fate for trying to shoot at two people he was having some sort of conflict with missing them and hitting a mother with her child.

In Chula Vista’s courthouse Kevin Earl Moore is being arraigned and accused of being under the influence of a drug when he crashed and killed an 89-year-old pedestrian.

In San Diego’s courthouse three employees from Three Frogs tree-trimming company are being arraigned for safety violations stemming from the death of a fellow tree trimmer last year.

In Vista’s courthouse 20-year-old Joseph Larry Flores will be arraigned. He’s accused of stabbing another young man in a fight.

At 9:00 AM San Diego City Council continues its hearings about the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year. Today they are talking about parks, libraries and economic development.

And finally today at the Western end of the County Administration building on 1600 Pacific Highway at noon the San Diego County law enforcement Memorial Foundation is honoring officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

A red flag warning is in effect for San Diego County. Wind gusts over 50 miles per hour will scour San Diego County and humidity as low as five percent come together to create the dangerous conditions. The warning will stay in effect until Wednesday night.

Chula Vista Police are on the lookout for three suspects from two separate robberies of one 7-11 and one clerk … all just hours apart. The first robbery was last night at 11:37 PM and the suspects are described as a man and woman both in their 20’s. The man is thought to be 5′ 10″, thin, wearing a black hoodie, black jeans, and he had a shot gun fitted with a pistol grip. The woman is said to also be 5′ 10 wearing black pants but a black shirt.

Then the second robbery came at 4:17 AM. The same clerk was working. He told authorities that he thinks it’s the same male suspect from the earlier. I guess the woman stayed home?? The robber even used what is thought to be the same gun. But this time he had a light blue bandanna covering his face.

This morning 140 Marines from Camp Pendleton deploy for Afghanistan. The Marines make up nearly half of the first Marine Expeditionary Force’s forward command. They are the last major command to deploy to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. They’ll be at Camp Leatherneck and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan until late this year.

This morning at 9:00 San Diego’s City Council Audit Committee is meeting. On the Agenda: financial statements from the Housing Commission and the Personnel Department’s performance audit.

Then at 3:30 this afternoon the San Diego Salary Setting Commission is meeting and will be reviewing the City Council and Mayor’s salaries.

At 10:00 AM the I-R-S is holding a forum on tax identity theft at the San Diego Central Library.

And finally at 10:00 this morning the groundbreaking for Barrio Logan’s new gateway sign on Cesar Chavez Parkway. This is marking the start of 1.5 million dollars in improvements for the community.

Last night at 9:08 PM a man robbed the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Chula Vista. The church holds bingo night on Wednesdays at around 6:00 PM. He is described as a black male in his 30’s 6 feet tall medium build used a black hand gun … OH and he was wearing a X-mass hat with a charger bolt on it … yes I said the robber was wearing a Charger themed Santa hat. There were people inside but no word yet on if they were playing or finishing up a bingo game.

This morning at 9:00 AM in San Diego’s courthouse there is a hearing to determine if convicted rapist Alvin Ray Quarles is a sexually violent predator. Quarles is half way through a 50-year sentence and could be released. Prosecutors want to classify him a sexually violent predator and commit him, keeping him off the streets.

At 1:30 this afternoon also in San Diego’s courthouse Lucas Jubb is on the docket. He’s is being arraigned for raping a minor. Jubb is a mental health counselor at a continuation school.

And also at 1:30 but in Vista brothers Brandon and Stephen Erwin will be arraigned. They are accused of robbing two of their friends, at the friend’s home.

This morning at 10:00 interim Mayor Todd Gloria talks to the press in his weekly briefing.

At 10:00 AM the Council on American Islamic Relation is releasing a report about the bullying of Muslim students in California.

And finally lots more holiday cheer today.

First at 8:30 AM the California Highway Patrol is delivering toys to Hannalei Elementary School.

Then at 10:00 the kids at St. Vincent de Paul Villages are celebrating the holidays. Then at 3:30 this afternoon they get to go to the Old Town Trolley Christmas Festival.

A bank robbery erupts into gunfire and one suspect is still on the loose. Late afternoon Tuesday two suspects … one man and one woman … tried to rob a Wells Fargo bank in the San Diego suburb of University City when a bank guard confronted them. Reportedly the man was shot but able to run away hopping into a waiting car.

According to a KSWB FOX5 report by Kristy Wolski a witness snapped a cell phone picture of the injured robber as he ran to the get-a-way car. The driver and injured suspect were able to flee and evade police; however the injured suspect was dropped off at Sharp Memorial Hospital some time later. The woman was arrested on scene and taken to the hospital, the extent of her injuries is not known at this time. So to sum up … the two robbers are under arrest and in the hospital, one with a gunshot wound to his chest, and the get-a-way driver is still on the loose.

Lost going on for San Diego’s Politicos today.

First the San Diego City Council is meeting today and talking about a couple of hot topics. In the morning they are talking about the Tourism Marketing District … remember when the mayor was refusing to release funds to pay the TMD. Then in the afternoon they are listing to presentations about the planning for the Balboa Park centennial celebration.

San Diego’s County Board of Supervisors is continuing its budget meetings this morning at 9:00. In-home health care advocates are slated to speak. The county does pay for some in-home health care and it’s often on the chopping block.

Then at 9:30 the Civic San Diego Board of Directors is talking about a new project that could provide over 200 affordable housing units.

At 4:00 PM San Diego Association of Governments (or SANDAG) is meeting about extending the trolley to La Jolla.

Then at 5:30 PM SANDAG is meeting in San Marcos about extending rail service from San Marcos to Oceanside.

And at 8:00 PM the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is celebrating the restarting of nonstop flights from Miami to San Diego.

This morning at 10:00 Republican State Senator Joel Anderson is talking to the press about legislation he’s supporting that would fund some school safety programs.

And at 10:30 AM an Army doctor is announcing a new lawsuit against the Boy Scouts of America for sexual abuse.

Masked gunmen invade Pacific Beach home

pb-home-invasionSAN DIEGO — Two masked gunman robbed a Pacific Beach apartment early Wednesday, making off with a laptop and other computer equipment, police said.

The home-invasion robbery in the 4200 block of Noyes Street was reported around 6:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Two victims were in the apartment at the time of the robbery but neither was injured, police said.

Police described one of the thieves as a black man in his late 20s to early 30s, last seen wearing all black clothing and a ski mask. The other was described as white or Hispanic, 5 feet 9 and 220 pounds, last wearing black clothing, a baseball hat and bandana.

 

No arrests have been made.
