Scattered rain and possible thunder storms will hit all across San Diego County today and into tomorrow. The rain yesterday drenched roads and contributed to the nearly 250 accidents according to the CHP. Todays scattered showers could have a similar effect, however not as wide spread.

Today from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM former World Series Champion pitcher Jamie Moyer, former Padres ace Trevor Hoffman, and former San Diego Charger John Carney are helping to collect donations to help with relief efforts in the Philippines. They will be taking donations for the Red Cross and Catholic Relief Services at the St. Therese of Carmel Church 4-3-5-5 Del Mar Trails Road, San Diego, CA, 92130

Three sentencing’s of note today…

First at 9:00 AM in El Cajon’s courthouse David Christopher Cruz will hear his fate for beating his girlfriend’s seven-month old son to death.

Second at 10:00 this morning in San Diego’s courthouse Enrique Ayon will be sentenced for firing on random motorists driving along the 805 and 5 freeways.

And third this afternoon at 1:30 also in San Diego’s courthouse one of the two “Dare Me Bandits”, Luis A Cruz, will be sentenced for his part in a series of robberies.

The East San Diego County city of Santee is holding its annual holiday lighting party tonight at 5:30. They are lighting a 20-foot tall tree at the Santee Trolley Square.

And finally tonight at 6:00 mayoral candidate and San Diego City Councilman Kevin Faulconer is getting the Leadership Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors San Diego Chapter.

Four Marines were killed yesterday at Camp Pendleton. Authorities are not releasing the names but the Marine Corps confirms the explosive ordnance disposal technicians were killed at 11:00 AM yesterday morning during a routine maintenance operation. General John Bullard said in a statement “Our first priority is to provide the families with the support they need during this difficult time”

The Navy medial ship the USNS Mercy is preparing for possible deployment to the typhoon stricken islands in the Philippines this morning. The Mercy could deploy in the next few days and reach the people in need next month.

This morning at 10:00 San Diego’s Interim Mayor Todd Gloria will release San Diego’s 5-year financial outlook.

Then at 3:30 this afternoon San Diego’s Salary Setting Commission is meeting to swear-in and reappoint several commissioners. They are also going to talk about when they should consider giving raises to the Mayor and City Council

San Diego County is announcing a disaster planning guide for people with disabilities. They are meeting at the Seacrest Village residential care home for people with disabilities in Encinitas at 12:30 this afternoon.

In San Diego’s downtown courthouse at 2:00 this afternoon Marcos Rodriguez-Perez will hear his fate for the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas Jr.

And finally at 6:30 tonight it’s the Grand opening for the Barrio Logan College Institute’s new facility at the Monarch School.
