San Diego Police Officer Christopher Hays resigns his position pending his trial for sexually assaulting women during put-down searches. The four-year veteran of SDPD pleaded not guilty in his arraignment and is free on $130,000 bail. On Hays’s resignation his lawyer Kerry Armstrong says …

“He’s not going to resign because he’s done anything wrong; He’s extremely upset with the police department for not backing him in this case, and it’s really hurt him. He’s very upset about it and he thinks that his career in law enforcement is over because of these allegations.”

Hays maintains he’s resigning because he needs to focus on fighting the charges.

This afternoon at 1:30 Georgette Cervantes is being sentenced for pushing a man she was dating over a fence causing his death. She pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and is looking at four-years in prison. However, according to Deputy District Attorney Karl Husoe, because of a new state law she could serve one year in San Diego County jail then be released and serve three-years under supervision.

Late this morning at 11:00 AM San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister is announcing the auction of more than 350 properties.

The National Weather Service says that we could get winds gusting up to 60-mile-per-hour though Thursday morning in San Diego County’s valley and mountains. They warn high-profile vehicles to be very careful.

And finally today … a $2.6 million dollar lotto ticket is still unclaimed in Chula Vista. The Mega Millions ticket was bought at Square Bottle Liquor at 21 Naples St. They didn’t match all the numbers. They missed the mega number. The numbers they got are 8, 20, 14, 17, and 39. If this is your ticket you’ve got six-months to get your money.

San Diego County has at least two more millionaires this morning. Two of the five winning tickets for last night’s multi-state lotto were bought in San Diego. The winners got all of the numbers except the mega number. Each ticket is worth over $2.6 million. The tickets were bought at Fuller Liquor and Deli in San Diego and Square Bottle Liquor in Chula Vista. The winning numbers are 8, 14, 17, 20, 39.

In court today three sentencing’s and an arraignment of note.

At 9:00 AM in San Diego’s courthouse Charzel Shears is being sentenced for a 1996 robbery and murder. Shears robbed then killed the owner of a market in San Diego’s Southcrest neighborhood.

Also at 9:00 but in Chula Vista’s courthouse Tyrie Wells, convicted of being one of 5 people that robbed, shoot, and killed a man near a child’s birthday party, will hear his fate.

Navy man Earl Smith Jr. will be sentenced at 1:30 this afternoon in Vista’s courthouse for driving drunk and killing an elderly couple on their daily walk.

And at 1:30 too this afternoon but in Chula Vista’s courthouse Jose Ascencio Gomez is on the docket to be arraigned for stabbing his ex-wife.

There are three fun events tonight.

First at 6:00 The Salvation Army Kroc Center is hosting its holiday themed ice skating show along with public skating and getting in will only cost you one unwrapped toy worth more than five bucks.

You can see a free classic monster movie from the 1940’s tonight at 6:30 at San Diego’s new Central Library.

And finally tonight at 7:00 California Ballet’s annual performance of “The Nutcracker” officially starts its holiday run.
