The first winter storm is hitting San Diego. It’s going be windy and rainy all over the county today and into tomorrow. According to the National Weather Service winds gusts will reach 65-miles per hour in our mountains and valleys. High profile vehicles, like vans and trucks, should be very careful of the wind. Things are supposed to start to calm down late tonight or tomorrow morning.

Authorities are on the lookout for an arsonist that set a church on fire. At around 8:00 last night firefighters were called to Santa Sophia Catholic Church in Spring Valley. It took them about 10 minutes to put out the non-injury fire and there is no damage estimate yet.

San Diego’s City Council is busy all day today.

First at 9:00 AM the Rules Committee is talking about protecting the city’s retirement system from law suits over health benefits and the military’s economic impact on the city.

Then at 2:00 this afternoon the Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee is talking about San Diego Police’s staffing issues.

Beekeeping regulations are on the agenda for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors this morning at 9:00. They want to make it easier for people to keep bees as a hobby.

This morning is International Walk and Bike to School Day. All across San Diego County kids will be hitting the road to promote how healthy it is for kids to walk to school.

And tonight at 6:00 at the Oceanside Public Library government dysfunction is the topic for a talk by Professor Stephen Nichols.
