A new smuggling tunnel along the San Diego Tijuana border was discovered by American and Mexican authorities. According to TijuanaPress.com the recently finished tunnel is 20 meters deep and 150 long. The entrance on the Mexican side is just over the border and near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. It is not clear if the tunnel ever saw use. U.S. federal authorities are expected to release more info today.

Tea Party members will protest at Congressman Darrell Issa’s Vista office today at noon. According to the local Tea Party, Issa has been suggesting that he wants to pass an immigration reform law that would grant the millions of undocumented immigrants working visas.

San Diego’s Interim Mayor Todd Gloria is holding his weekly chat with the media at 10:00 AM

Tassie Behrens, the mother of two toddlers that drowned in a pool at a home that was also a marijuana growing location will be arraigned this afternoon at 1:30. She’s facing drug and child endangerment charges.

At noon the group Walk San Diego is releasing its walking scores for San Diego today. Walkablity is a big part of how some property values are determined so realtors will watch closely.

And today is Halloween. There are events all over San Diego County.

At 12:30 it’s the 39th annual giant pumpkin drop off of the 11th floor of the Tioga Hall building at the University of California San Diego.

At 2:00 this afternoon Students from Holmes Elementary are leading a community parade.

At 5:00 at the Fallbrook Community Center, Lakeside Community Center, Spring Valley Center, there will be trick-or-treating, games, music, and costume contests.

And finally all day from 9:00 AM till 7:00 tonight 101 KGB is hosting its 35th annual Halloween blood drive.

The 36-year-old man accused of kidnapping at 14-year-old boy and taking him to Florida will face federal prosecution in San Diego. Authorities believe that Tony McLeod got the young teen to meet him through an internet video game. Authorities also say McLeod sent the boy pornographic text messages, he’s accused of meeting the boy and flying with him from Los Angeles to Tampa Bay Florida.

Lots of political news today

First at 9:00 AM the San Diego County Board of Supervisors is going to talk about supporting federal legislation to close a loophole in child sex trafficking laws and to speed up prosecution of the accused. The bill is called The Child Protection Act of 2013 will remove a requirement that suspects know the victims are minors.

At 10:00 this morning San Diego’s City Council is meeting about infrastructure needs, capping political party contributions, and art work to recognize Mission Bay as the birthplace of the triathlon.

More open houses for residents along the proposed trolley extension to La Jolla will be at Caltrans offices on Taylor Street this afternoon at 4:00.

And at 5:00 tonight the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education is meeting about its two point five billion dollar budget for 2013/14 school year. The School Districts are now facing a 100 million dollar shortfall for 14/15 year and a 54 for the year after that.

Sir Richard Branson is speaking at the National Apartment Association Education Conference and Exposition this morning at 9:00 AM. The conference’s five-day run begins today at the San Diego Convention Center.

The proposed program for the Balboa Park centennial celebration will be announced this afternoon at 3:00. Mayor Bob Filner and the events producers will talk to the press about the 2015 party plans.

And finally this morning at 8:00 AM the City of El Cajon is participating in an attempt to stage to world’s largest swim lesson. Last year more than 24,000 people worldwide participated. If you want to join in go to the Fletcher Hills Pool at 2345 Center Place in El Cajon.

[trib_ndn vid=23917386 site_section=dash]SAN DIEGO — A father and son who were arrested during a multi-agency raid on their luxury used car lot were charged with money laundering and other crimes Thursday in federal court.

Amir BahadorAmir Bahador owns Autohaus San Diego on Mission Gorge Road. Amir’s son, Roman Bahador, owns European Collections, a dealership at the same location. A task force comprising the FBI, IRS, DEA and local police departments served search warrants Wednesday at the dealerships and at the Del Cerro homes of the two men.

Prosecutors say the men were involved in a scheme involving the sale of luxury vehicles for illegal drug money. They are also accused of structuring a series of bank deposits in amounts less than $10,000 to try and avoid having the deposits reported to the IRS.

If convicted of all charges, the Bahadors could each be sentenced to 20 year in prison.

Mexican Cartel Leader To Be Sentenced

The infamous Tijuana Cartel leader Benjamin Arellano Felix is to be sentenced today at 9:30 AM in San Diego’s federal court.

Benjamin Arellano Felix pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy to launder money in January. He is looking at 25-years in federal prison.

Felix says that over a 16-year period he was the boss of the Tijuana Cartel he distributed hundreds of millions of tons of cocaine and marijuana in the United States.
