Hillary Clinton is appearing via satellite at the California Medical Association’s 17th annual Western Health Care Leadership Academy. Originally Clinton was supposed to show up but her representatives say that due to a scheduling conflict she’s unable to. However protesters angry over how the then Secretary of State handled the Benghazi attacks and subsequent congressional hearings, say she’s not showing because of them. Along with the Benghazi protesters people in favor of a single payer health care system are going to be marching at the conference. The conference starts at 8:00 AM. Hillary Clinton’s satellite appearance is at 10:30 AM. Universal health care advocates and the Benghazi protesters are rallying at 9:30 AM, however not together.

This could be the last weekend for Opera in San Diego. The San Diego Opera says that could close after Sunday’s performance of “Don Quixote” unless some money comes through. The Opera’s Director of Education, Nicolas Reveles, says that they have about 50 full time staffers, and contribute about $7 million to San Diego’s economy. He also says that they need about $10 million for one more season.

In court today one sentencing and two arraignments.

First at 8:45 this morning in San Diego’s courthouse Zewoinesh Badasso is hearing her fate for strangling her 7-month-old baby son.

Then at 1:30 this afternoon in El Cajon’s courthouse Leila Farmer is being arraigned and accused of beating up a shop owner during a robbery

Also at 1:30 in El Cajon Kevin Oshea Knight will be arraigned and accused of two home-invasion robberies, two commercial robberies and 4 vehicle thefts during a violent crime spree.

Representatives from 17 of San Diego regional tribal governments are coming together at the Barona Indian Reservation to meet with the San Diego Association of Governments. They’re talking about policy issues.

Two professors from San Diego State University are releasing a report that contradicts the federal finding that Southeast San Diego is a “food desert”. Pascale Joassart-Marcelli and Fernando Bosco have put together a study of their own about the food options for the community in Southeastern San Diego. The official release of the study is at 5:00 tonight at the Educational Cultural Complex on Ocean View Blvd.

And finally tonight at 7:00 “Seussical the Musical” opens at Cal State San Marcos.

FBI arrests Cal State San Marcos student body candidate

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A California State University San Marcos student was arrested and will face federal charges for allegedly rigging a student body election.

Matthew Weaver, a junior at CSUSM, was arrested Thursday and charged with fraud, access device fraud and unauthorized access to a computer, according to FBI special agent Foxworth.

“It was something that rose to the level that it did violate federal charges,” said Foxworth.

Court documents showed Weaver was stealing the identification and passwords of fellow students.

“Our IT department noticed some unusual activities going on with one of our campus computer lab computers,” said Margaret Lutz, spokeswoman for CSUSM.

Lutz said it happened last year during the ASI student body elections.  According to federal documents, Weaver had attached 19 keyloggers to various computers in the computer lab.  A keylogger is a device that records keystrokes entered into a computer.
