Padres to host public memorial for Tony Gwynn
[trib_ndn vid=26282271]SAN DIEGO — The Padres presented a pregame tribute night to Tony Gwynn and will hold a public memorial next week for the Hall of Fame baseball legend who died of cancer Monday at the age of 54.
Wednesday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners was the first at Petco Park since the death of the eight-time National League batting champion.
Wednesday evening, the Padres announced plans for the free public memorial to the beloved right-fielder. It will take place at Petco Park beginning at 7:19 p.m. on June 26, according to the team.
