Teens arrested by arson investigators in Escondido


ESCONDIDO, Calif. – Escondido police arrested two teenagers for allegedly starting a small brush fire in an Escondido park, police said.


The two teens were taken into custody at 7:30 p.m. and were being questioned by arson investigators, Escondido police Chief Craig Carter said.

The brush fire in the park near Interstate 15 and Bear Valley Parkway was reported shortly before 7:30 p.m., according to Escondido police.

The fire was extinguished by a witness and two people, an unidentified 17-year-old and 19-year-old Isaiah Silva, were arrested, police said.

Authorities said they do not believe the unidentified suspects were involved in the wildfires burning throughout San Diego County.
