Today is Good Friday and Christians all over San Diego are celebrating. At 8:30 AM 4000 people will participate in the annual Good Friday “Walk with the Suffering”. The marchers are meeting at the San Diego Rescue Mission on Elm Street. They’ll be making stops at Churches, City Hall, the federal building and Horton Plaza. Some of those walking will be reenacting Biblical scenes and reading verses

At 8:30 as well PETCO Park in downtown the Rock Church is sponsoring its annual charity event. The Rock Church is giving away food, care packages, haircuts and health screenings.

At 10:00 AM today Sheriff Bill Gore and some of his deputies along with the Easter Bunny are passing out toys to the kids at Rady Children’s Hospital.

Then tomorrow there are several Easter egg hunts all over town.

First at 7:30 AM the community centers is Fallbrook and Spring Valley are hosting pancake breakfasts and Easter egg hunts.

Other egg hunts will be

9:00 AM at Belmont Park and Santee Lakes

10:00 AM Dos Picos County Park in Ramona

Also at 10:00 at Buddy Todd Park on Mesa Drive

And in Oceanside the Salvation Army Kroc Center

Back in San Diego at 11:00 AM at San Diego City College the New City Church is hosting their egg hunt.

And finally tomorrow is also the 44th Chicano Park Day Celebration. Chicano Park was created by a “take over” by committee member’s way back in 1970. It has become a land mark San Diego park representing our Chicano heritage. Check out Chicano-Park.org for more info.
