AM Briefing from for March 28, 2014

Reviving the Balboa Park centennial celebration is what San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Council President Todd Gloria are talking about today at 11:00 AM. The original plan put forth by former and disgraced mayor Bob Filner was canceled and the committee officially disbanded. It cost the city $2.6 million to create the committee and for them to do whatever it was they did. Many want to know where that money went; the council has requested an audit.

That aside … Faulconer and Gloria want to bring back the party but a scaled down version. Now that the city is involved again many think that corporate investment will come and the 100th anniversary of Balboa Park in 2015 will be a success.

Todd Gloria says “You can’t lose sight of the fact that our park institutions have been doing incredible work over a long period of time, with the help of the centennial group, to pull together some blockbuster presentations for 2015”
