The National Weather Service is warning us about high surf and strong rip currents today through tomorrow morning. They say west-facing beaches could get three to six-foot waves with sets as high as seven-feet. The rip currents are even more of a danger. They’ll drag you out past the surf line and exhaust you if you get caught in one. So if you do get caught in one, swim parallel to the shore until you’re out of it then swim in.

Over the weekend San Diego State men’s basketball got a number four seed in the West for the NCAA tournament. Aztecs will face the New Mexico State Aggies in Spokane Washington. If the Aztecs win they play the winner of the Oklahoma vs North Dakota State game.

This morning at 10:30 Mayor Faulconer and Councilman Todd Gloria are introducing a kind new museum and attraction pass called the “Balboa Park Explorer’s Pass”. It’ll get you unlimited general admission to all kinds of Balboa Park things including all the museums. The annual pass costs …

A family pass is $199 and that’s good for two adults and up to four children.

At 2:00 this afternoon San Diego’s Torrey Pines Golf Course will officially become the location of the 2021 U.S. Open. The City Council is having a special meeting and expected to approve a contract with the U.S. Golf Association. Last time the city hosted the tournament the estimated economic impact was $142 million.

In court today two sentencings of note.

First in San Diego’s courthouse at 9:00 AM Ronnie Chang a former medical marijuana dispensary owner will hear his fate for money laundering.

Then in Vista’s courthouse at 1:30 PM Joan Priest the former head of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce is being sentenced for embezzling over $62,000

And finally at 5:30 tonight San Diego Women’s Week starts with a wine and food tasting event at the Bernardo Winery.
