Big crowd expected for Mardi Gras in Gaslamp
SAN DIEGO — Around 30,000 revelers are expected to flock to downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter this evening to celebrate Mardi Gras — a final night of indulgence before the 40 days and 40 nights of Lent.
The 20th annual Mardi Gras parade and celebration is scheduled from 5 p.m. to midnight and will be held on Fifth Avenue, between Broadway and Harbor Drive. It will feature live music and light shows.
The parade is scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
General admission tickets for the 21-and-up event are $45 at the gate. Proceeds will go to the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation.
