San Diego City Council is busy this afternoon at 2:00.

First the great-grandmother who says she was sexually harassed by San Diego’s infamous former mayor Bob Filner is being honored by the council. Peggy Shannon says that Filner grabbed her, kissed her, and repeatedly asked her out. Today she’ll get an official apology and today will be declared “Peggy Shannon Day”.

After that the council is talking about a proposal to close the La Jolla Children’s Pool. The Children’s Pool was created near La Jolla Cove as a safe place for kids to swim in the ocean but seals and sea lions have taken it over. It’s a perennial issue for the council. Some want to block of the beach and leave it for the sea life while other say it is an artificial cove and should be kept clear for children to swim.

This morning at 8:40 The Port of San Diego is opening up its new 4 point 2-5 million dollar power station at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal. It’s supposed to make it easier for ships to get power and not use their diesel engines as much while docked.

Tonight at 7:00 San Diego Unified School District is taking public input on its plan called “Vision 2020” at Mission Bay High School.

And finally tonight at 7:00 32 performing arts volunteers are being honored by the San Diego Performing Arts League at the 21st Star Awards.
