AM Briefing from for January 17, 2014

The National Weather Service extends the Red Flag fire danger warning into a fifth day today. Hot temperatures, Low Humidity, and fast winds continue through today. Originally issued on Monday, the red flag warning was first set to end Wednesday but the National Weather Service has been extending it every day since then. Today’s humidity will be at 5 percent, winds will gust up around 40 miles per hour, and temperatures will be in the high 70’s to low 80’s.

Threats on social media close a school in the Northern San Diego County city of Escondido. Heritage Charter School put a message on their web site saying ..

“…someone had made a threat of violence at school…We want our students and staff to be safe, so as a precaution we are closing all American Heritage Charter schools tomorrow.”

School officials say anticipate opening back up on Tuesday the 21st.

This morning at 7:00 AM San Diego Unified School District superintendent Cindy Marten will give the key note speech at the 29th annual YMCA of San Diego County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Award Breakfast. This year’s “Dignity Award” is going to a promenade community activist.

Revenge porn is on the docket in San Diego’s downtown courthouse. At 1:30 this afternoon 27-year-old Kevin Bollaert is in court and accused of posting explicit pictures of woman on a website he ran. Authorities say Bollaert was asking for gift cards in exchange for removing the pictures.

David Alvarez and Kevin Faulconer face off in another mayoral candidate debate at 2:30 this afternoon. This is the second debate between the two mayoral hopefuls. This time it’s at the KUSI studios in Kearny Mesa

And finally tonight at 5:00 a photographic exhibit called “4th Trimester Bodies Project” will open with a reception at the So Childish Children’s Boutique. The photographs show how women’s bodies change through their pregnancy.
