An early morning stand-off with San Diego Sheriffs ends peacefully this morning at around 4:45 am. At 11:50 PM last night Sheriff’s dispatch got a call that someone was firing shoots off inside their apartment near Vista Way and Taylor St in the Northern San Diego County city of Vista. Deputies believe the suspect is a Marine (we do not know if he is active duty or separated from the corps). They also say he was alone in the apartment. While SWAT was on scene they were not completely activated. The suspect surrendered to negotiators after nearly 5 hours
In San Diego politics today a referendum drive against a one and a half percent fee levied against commercial building projects is set to start Friday. The fee is called a “linkage Fee” I have no idea why it’s called that… the money is used to pay for affordable housing projects. But it comes from construction projects and was just voted back into full effect by the city council five to four. The rate was halved in 1996. Some say that the fee will slow construction and cause San Diego to lose jobs. While propionates say that the fee is necessary for affordable housing and won’t adversely affect jobs or construction.
At 10:00 AM San Diego starts its 40th annual Christmas tree recycling program. There are drop off locations all over town. Just Google “San Diego Christmas tree recycling” it’s the first thing to come up.
And finally tonight at 6:30 the ninth annual Poinsettia Bowl kicks off. Utah State is up against Northern Illinois.
