The cross on top of Mt. Solidad has been ordered removed by a federal judge. The 43-foot tall cross has been the focal point of a court battle over whether or not the Christian symbol is a violation of the US Constitution’s separation of Church and State. In 2011 the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said the cross violated the First Amendment and the US Supreme Court declined the case. Now the federal judge orders the cross removed within 90 days but stayed that order until all appeals are exhausted. More court time on this is sure to follow.
