San Diego Red Cross is kicking off their season of giving with “Giving Tuesday”. Red Cross CEO Tony Young is living in a mock shelter at Red Cross’s Kearny Mesa H-Q to bring awareness to the people they help and to raise money. He’s living in the shelter until the raise what they said was “enough” money. The Red Cross did not specify what “enough” is to them. The first 250 donors will get a free emergency kit. Red Cross Headquarters are at 3950 Calle Fortunada and they open up at 5:00 AM

Also this morning at 9:00 AM San Diego County Board of Supervisors and on the agenda … if San Diego should make a bid to host the 2024 Olympics.

At 11:00 AM San Diego County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister is reminding everyone about the first property tax deadline.

Rose Creek gets a new mural today at 11:00 AM. The Mike Gotch Memorial Bridge is the canvas to the 40 by 12-foot piece of public art.

San Diego County Registrar of Voters is opening up their new office this afternoon at 1:30 on Overland Drive.

San Diego Unified School District Board of Education is meeting at 4:00 tonight about charter schools. Then at 6:00 PM the district is hosting a community talk about the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman shooting.

Court is busy this afternoon. Two sentencings and three arraignments all at 1:30

Fist in El Cajon’s courthouse Jeffery Roberson is hearing his fate for shooting his friend

Then Tyron Cannaday is being sentenced in Chula Vista’s courthouse for shooting a man during a robbery very near a child’s birthday party.

In Vista’s courthouse Richard Berumen is being arraigned for stealing a minivan, running from police and causing an accident that left other drivers seriously injured.

Also in Vista Javier Covarrubias is being arraigned and accused of stabbing a man at a Carlsbad mall.

And finally in Chula Vista’s courthouse Mark Edward Walters Jr. is being arraigned for the theft of some police equipment including a rifle and radios.

The Armed Forces YMCA is hosting its annual SuperParent Toy Drive at 11:00 AM. If you want to donate go to Geppetto’s Toys in the UTC Mall.

And finally tonight at 7:00 the Rancho Bernardo Community Council and Rancho de los Penasquitos town Council is hosting a mayoral candidate forum. Candidates David Alvarez and Kevin Faulconer will be at the Ed Brown Senior Center answering questions.
