mikel marshallSAN DIEGO — State officials Wednesday proposed placing sexually violent predator Mikel Wayne Marshall in Jacumba, in southern San Diego County.

Marshall, 39, spent 14 years in prison for molesting four young boys, ages 4-8, between 1992  and 1994. In each case he was known to the families of the children he assaulted, authorities said.

Marshall was committed as a sexually violent predator in 2008. Since that time, he has participated in the in-patient sex offender treatment program at Coalinga State Hospital.

On Aug. 5, a judge found that Marshall could be safely released into the community for continued treatment and supervision.

Wednesday, the Department of State Hospitals proposed placing Marshall on property on Desert Rose Ranch Road in Jacumba.

A court hearing is scheduled Dec. 23 at which the public can comment on the proposed location before it is finalized.
