A winter storm brings rain and wind across San Diego County today. In San Diego’s East County the storm is expected to bring hazardous winds with gusts of nearly 60 miles per hour through Tuesday at 8:00 AM Along the coast a small craft warning is in effect and temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees lower than normal. It’s all expected to pass by tomorrow morning.
31-year-old Ignacio Canela will be arraigned at 1:30 this afternoon for shooting a San Diego Police man. Canela had two felony warrants outstanding and officers were attempting to arrest him when he ran into a drainage tunnel at the bottom of a canyon. An officer approached and Canela fired shooting the patrolman in the arm, leg, and chest. While his wounds are serious he is expected to make a full recovery.
This morning at 8:00 AM business in North America’s three nations is top of the agenda at the third annual North American Competitiveness and Innovation Conference. The conference brings together Canada, Mexico, and the United States with the goal of enhancing corporative business combativeness for the region across the world.
Late this afternoon at 4:00 Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is talking about U.S. – China relations at the seventh China Town Hall at the Sanford Consortium Auditorium in La Jolla.
San Diego’s City Council is busy all day today. First at 9:00 AM they’re talking infrastructure and how to improve it. Then this afternoon at 2:00 the filling the large number of city commission vacancies is on the agenda. Along with a proposal is to change the management structure in the mayor’s office.
And finally at 10:00 AM the 20th annual Baja Ha-Ha is scheduled to start. No word yet if the weather will delay the annual 750-mile sail sailing rally. The course starts in San Diego and ends in Cabo San Lucas.
