AM Briefing from for October 22, 2013

Lots going on in court today.

Richard Tuite, the man convicted of the 1998 killing 12-year-old Stephanie Crowe then had the charge reversed on appeal is beginning the jury selection in his retrial at 9:00 this morning this morning on voluntary manslaughter charges in San Diego’s Downtown Courthouse.

Christian heavy-metal singer Tim Lambesis will be arraigned this morning at 8:30 in Vista’s courthouse. Lambesis is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his ex-wife.

Also in Vista’s courthouse but at 1:30 this afternoon 55-year-old Jeffery S. Barton will be arraigned and accused of molesting kids at a San Diego County military boarding school. Barton worked as a teacher and mentor at Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad and at least 6 of his former students are accusing him.

San Diego County Board of Supervisors is meeting at 9:00 AM this morning and they are looking at way of making it easier to start farmers markets.

Then at 10:00 AM San Diego City Council is meeting about land development issues.

At 5:00 tonight San Diego Unified School District Board of Education is meeting about the charters for several High Tech campuses and possibly working with the City of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission.

And finally tonight at 6:00 the public is welcome at a City of San Diego infrastructure priority meeting. So head over to the Balboa Park Club in Balboa Park and tell the Infrastructure Committee what you think is important.
