Criminal charges filed against Filner
SAN DIEGO — The State Attorney General’s Office has charged former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner with felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the harassment of three women, court officials said Tuesday.
Filner has been charged with one felony count of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor counts of battery, according to court officials.
The victims were identified in the filing as Jane Does 1, 2 and 3.
Filner resigned from office Aug. 30 after nearly 20 women came forward saying he had groped them or sexually harassed them over several years.
Filner’s former communications director, Irene McCormack Jackson, filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the former mayor.
Filner, 70, is charged with one felony count of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor counts of battery.
