Filner takes plea deal on criminal charges
[trib_ndn vid=25260689]SAN DIEGO — Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner pleaded guilty Tuesday to one felony and two misdemeanor charges in connection with the harassment of three women.
Filner pleaded guilty to a felony count of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor counts of battery as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors that lets him avoid prison. The victims were identified in the filing as Jane Does 1, 2 and 3.
The judge told the former mayor that he faced a maximum sentence of 3 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Filner also faces one year in jail and a $4,000 fine for each of the misdemeanors. However, under the plea deal with prosecutors, he is expected to receive three years of probation and three months of home confinement when he is sentenced Dec. 9.
