Triple murder suspect arrested in connection with 2005 cold case

body found SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Three men were behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of murder in the 2005 death of a 20-year-old man in Alpine following a cold case investigation, authorities said.

One of the three men was also arrested on suspicion of two other counts of murder in connection with a 2002 death in Chula Vista and a 2003 death in National City, according to San Diego County sheriff’s homicide Lt. Glenn Giannantonio. It was unclear whether the three slayings were related.

Jose Valdez, 30, John Reyna, 30, and Rashad Lansing, 33, were arrested Thursday and booked into jail on suspicion of murder and conspiracy in the October 2005 fatal shooting of Daniel Rodriguez, the lieutenant said, adding that the arrests were made by a coalition of law enforcement agencies that includes the Sheriff’s Department’s Cold Case Unit, the East County Gang Task Force, Chula Vista and National City police…
