Obamacare brings jobs to San Diego

351 new positions were approved Tuesday by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to help deal with the oncoming effects of the Affordable Healthcare Act, known as Obamacare.

“One of the big components in the Affordable Care Act is expanding the Medi-Cal program,” said Richard Wanne, Director for the County’s Heath and Human Services Agency.

111,000 San Diegans will now qualify for Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program offering healthcare coverage to the poor, under President Obama’s new health care law.

The new hires will be helping those who qualify, sign up and keep up with the new accounts.

“These are full time, permanent, benefited jobs,” Wanne added.

The new state paid employees will also have to inevitably deal with some of the confusion.

Many Americans admit they don’t fully understand how the healthcare overhaul will affect them.
