First Mayoral Debate in Downtown San Diego
SAN DIEGO-With the mayoral primary election two months away, several candidates got ahead of the game hoping to win the San Diego vote. The Asian Business Association hosted the first mayoral debate Friday at the Westin in the Gaslamp. Mayoral candidates Mike Aguirre, Kevin Faulconer, and David Alvarez took part in the debate. Nathan Fletcher was also invited to participate but turned down the invite citing a prior engagement.
The debate was not open to the public but was streamed online. The candidates were asked 13 questions and given one minute to answer. The first question was regarding the future of the Chargers Stadium.
“The hallmark for me in that plan is can we do it in a way that protects San Diego taxpayers,” said Faulconer.
