Cruise ship season starts today. The Port of San Diego is celebrating the start of the season with the arrival the Holland America Zaandam at the B Street Pier in Downtown. The ship and its 1,400 passengers are on their way back to Vancouver after a 4-day cruise down the Pacific Coast. We want to come ashore and spend lots of money.

Census data is out for San Diego. The median household income stayed level from 2011 to 2012 at roughly $60,000. San Diego County’s population moved slightly up from 2010’s number of 3.95 million to 2012’s 3.177 million. The average travel time to work is just about 24 minutes. Today is the 30th anniversary for two prominent San Diego groups. First at 5:30 tonight the Lincoln Club of San Diego a Republican oriented political club is having its celebratory dinner. Then at 7:00 PM the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program is having cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for its 30th. The legal volunteer group provides all kinds of pro-bono legal service to people in need. They got their start helping domestic violence victim.

And finally … Mira Mesa High School will dedicate its fancy new broadcast communications facility at 10:30 this morning.
