$100K reward offered in I-8 freeway murder
LA MESA, Calif. — Authorities are offering a $100,000 reward in the hopes that witnesses will come forward to help solve a car-to-car freeway shooting that killed a 22-year-old man four months ago.
Xusah Brown Jr. died after being shot in the head while traveling eastbound on Interstate 8 near state Route 125 sometime before 2:30 a.m. on May 5, police said. Another man in the car with Brown was wounded in the arm. Police said Thursday that the shooting was the work of gang members who mistakenly thought Brown was in a rival gang.
“The La Mesa Police Department believes there are witnesses to this tragic incident that are reluctant to come forward, and we hope, with your help, they will change their minds and come forward and help us with this case,” La Mesa police Lt. Matt Nicholass said.
