[trib_ndn vid=25059171]SAN DIEGO — Although details of a mediation deal in Mayor Bob Filner’s sexual harassment lawsuit have not been announced yet, it is increasingly clear that the settlement includes his resignation from office.

Filner was seen Wednesday night loading boxes into an SUV parked outside City Hall — and driven by a San Diego police officer, part of the mayor’s security detail — apparently after saying farewell to his staff and cleaning out his office.

A special election would be held to fill the mayor’s post. Filner would be the fourth of the last seven San Diego mayors to leave midterm, all for different reasons.

Hannah: Using social media ‘helps me grieve’


Hannah Anderson defended her use of social media in the days following her kidnapping and rescue, saying in her first interview after her rescue that sending and receiving the online postings “just helps me grieve.”

The San Diego County 16-year-old’s first comments about her ordeal came in an interview with NBC that aired in two parts Thursday morning on the “Today” show. In the second segment, she addressed those who have criticized her recent online activity.

hannahAnderson“I didn’t know people could be so cruel,” she said.

She said social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram — where she has recently posted photos and comments — helped her connect with friends and cope with what happened.

“It just helps me grieve, like, post pictures to show how I’m feeling,” she said. “I’m a teenager. I’m gonna go on it.”

City Attorney: Possible resolution to Filner mediation


filner-web1 SAN DIEGO – City Attorney Jan Goldsmith announced Wednesday that there is a possible resolution in the ongoing scandal involving Mayor Bob Filner. The settlement will be presented at a closed session of City Council and then a public report may be issued after that.

Goldsmith declined to reveal any details of the proposed resolution. Mayor Filner and various other officials have been in mediation for the past three days with a gag order issue to all parties.

Also, Wednesday a prominent businesswoman became the 18th woman to publicly accuse San Diego Mayor Bob Filner of sexual harassment.

Dianne York, who owned the now-closed The Spa of La Jolla and now runs DYG Cosmetics, said that during a meeting with Filner three months ago, he put his hands on her buttocks while a photo was being taken and others were present in the room.

Kidnap victim Hannah Anderson gave her first interview to the today show and it’s set to air on the east coast at 4:00 AM pacific time then re-air at 7:00 am for the west coast’s feed of the show. Last night NBC’s evening news gave a preview of the interview in that Hannah says

“In the beginning I was a victim, but now knowing everyone is out there helping me, I consider myself a survivor instead … My mom raised me to be strong”

On August 3rd James Lee DiMaggio killed Hannah’s mother and younger brother then set their home on fire Dimaggio then kidnapped Hannah taking her to a remote Idaho camp site. DiMaggio was killed there by authorities on August 10th. The reason for the murder and kidnapping is still not clear, however DiMaggio’s family thinks that he may be Hannah’s father and is asking for a paternity test.

San Diego’s Mayor Bob Filner and city officials have reached a tentative agreement after three days of mediation regarding the multiple sexual harassment claims made against him. Filner now has 18 accusers saying he behaved inappropriately with them and his former Communications Director is suing him for sexual harassment.

Details of the agreement are not public yet; however the full city council will have to approve it in a special closed door session on Friday at 1:00 PM. After that the details will be made public in an open session meeting.

At San Diego federal building this morning at 10:30 two Democratic Congress-people … Susan Davis and Scott Peters are holding a joint news conference criticizing the federal governments automatic budget cuts as a result of the budget sequestration.

At Civic Center Plaza at 11:00 AM San Diego city officials are announcing a website for the public to suggest locations for bike-sharing racks.

And finally … the Eastlake Little League All-Stars beat the Westport Little League of Westport, Connecticut last night 6 to 3 advancing to the U.S. Championship game this Saturday.

However Tijuana lost to Tokyo 5-2. The boys from TJ just had an early 2 to 1 lead but Tokyo came back first tying in the fourth then putting Tijuana well in their rear view in the fifth inning with three runs.

There could still be a Tijuana versus Eastlake match up if Tijuana is able to go undefeated today and Saturday. TJ’s muchachos del verano still have a chance.
