Businesswoman becomes Filner’s 18th accuser

SAN DIEGO — A prominent businesswoman came forward Wednesday as the 18th woman to accuse San Diego Mayor Bob Filner of sexual harassment.

Dianne York, president and CEO of The Spa of La Jolla, told CNN that during a meeting with Filner three months ago, he put his hands on her buttocks while a photo was being taken and others were present in the room.

The first woman to accuse Filner of unwanted advances, groping or, in some instances, forced kissing, was his former communications director, Irene Jackson McCormack. She is suing the mayor and the city for unspecified damages.

Mediation between Filner, lawyers and city officials began Monday. All parties have refused to say whether they would go into a third day of negotiations today — negotiations reported to be dealing in part with the possibility of Filner’s resignation.

AM Briefing from Bowlersdesk.com for August 21 2013

Today is day three of Filner watch. San Diego’s infamous mayor is negotiating with the City Attorney, Civil Attorney Gloria Allred, and the city council about the conditions of his resignation. No one, but those in on the negotiations, know exactly what the discussions are about or what conditions Filner wants met for him to resign. The mediator, a retired federal judge, asked everyone to stay quiet.

However the mediation may become a moot point if the recall effort gathers enough signatures. Some think they will have the just under 102,000 signatures by the end of the week.

Will that change Filner’s negotiations?

Or will it make it more difficult to get him to out of office?

DNC considers calling on Filner to resign

fox5sandiego.com

[trib_ndn vid=25053392]Washington (CNN) – The Democratic National Committee will vote on a resolution this week calling on San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign, ratcheting up pressure on the embattled Democrat who has been accused of sexually harassing multiple women.

FilnerTrolleyCeremonySixteen women have charged Filner of acting improperly and the mayor last month acknowledged having “failed to fully respect the women who work for me and with me.” He voluntarily entered a behavioral therapy program, but has refused to step down despite widespread calls for him to leave office.

While several high profile Democrats including DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz have personally called on Filner to resign as has the San Diego County Democratic Party, this is the first time the national Democratic Party will urge him to step aside.

“We cannot reassure voters that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for a champion for women unless Democrats…

[trib_ndn vid=25052595]SAN DIEGO — The effort to recall San Diego Mayor Bob Filner from office seems to be going well, so well, sources within the campaign told Fox 5 they believe they could potentially get all the signatures they need by the end of the week.Screen Shot 2013-08-20 at 9.25.37 PM

“Some people feel that can happen,” said Recall leader, Michael Pallamary as he delivered petitions to a barbershop on Imperial Avenue.

“If that was me who’ve been accused, I’d be fired,” said Mario Lewis, owner of Imperial Barbershop and one of dozens of businessmen and women who are making recall Filner petitions available to customers.

“I came in to sign and to get a haircut,” said Samuel Jackson, one of Lewis’ clients.

Pallamary says its all part of a grassroots effort, a strategy to gather the 101,597 signatures the campaign needs to potentially force the Mayor out of office.

They have been on administrative leave since December, but Secretary of State John Kerry gave the green light for them to be reassigned.

Local mother of Benghazi victim speaks out“I still see pictures on that TV of bloody finger prints on the wall thinking ‘are those my son’s?’” Patricia Smith said.

It’s been almost a year since Smith’s son, Sean Smith, was killed along with three other Americans during the September 11 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi.

On the eve of the anniversary, she’s still fighting the same confusion and anger.

DiMaggio family requests Hannah Anderson DNA

DiMaggio family requests Hannah Anderson DNA

This Just In

James DiMaggio’s family is requesting DNA samples from the family of Hannah Anderson, the 16-year-old girl he’s accused of kidnapping and whose mother and brother were found dead in his burned home.

The reason? They want to know if he was the biological father of the children, Hannah and 8-year-old Ethan, the family spokesman said.

“We are going to be requesting from the Anderson family that we try to get DNA samples from Hannah. And if they have anything left from Ethan — that we get a DNA sample,” family spokesman Andrew Spanswick told CNN affiliate KGTV. “There has been a lot of rumors that Jim might be the father of either or both children.”
