Eastlake, Tijuana headed for possible showdown at Little League World Series
CHULA VISTA, Calif. — The Eastlake All-Stars from Chula Vista appear to be unstoppable at the Little League World Series, but so does a group of Tijuana all-stars representing Mexico.
The Eastlake and Tijuana little leagues are separated by only 15 miles. Players and coaches from both teams know each other and have played each other before.
Two more wins for each team and they face-off for the World Series title on Sunday — a dream matchup for local fans.
“Oh, I think they would be excited by that. It’s going to get the hometown really excited. We have enough support on both sides. But people are going to have to make a decision on who to cheer for,” said Catanzaro.
Mexico has outscored opponents 25-0 and is one win away from the International Championship game.
