Eastlake All-Stars win Little League World Series opener
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Eastlake Little League All-Stars from Chula Vista won their first game in the Little League World Series Friday with a no-hitter against a Michigan team thrown by pitcher Grant Holman.
The team from Chula Vista beat the Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League All-Stars from Grosse Pointe, Mich., 3-0 in the seven-inning game in South Williamsport, Pa.
The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh inning, when Eastlake scored three runs to take the lead. Eastlake’s Holman struck out 13 batters and pitched seven complete innings of no-hit baseball.
Eastlake will play Sunday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Friday’s game between the all-star teams from the Newark National Little League from Newark, Del., the Mid-Atlantic Region champion, and the Urbandale Little League from Urbandale, Iowa.
