Nurse to air new allegations against Filner


GloriaAllredSAN DIEGO — A nurse who asked Mayor Bob Filner to help an injured Marine will discuss allegations that Filner made unwanted sexual advances toward her at a news conference today, Attorney Gloria Allred said.

The woman was accosted by Filner when she met with Filner to discuss getting help for the Marine, who had been seriously injured in Iraq, Allred said.

Allred, the nurse and the Marine will discuss the incident at a 12:30 p.m. news conference at a hotel in downtown San Diego, according to a news release from Allred’s office.

40-year-old James Lee DiMaggio is suspected in the murder of his 42-year-old Christina Anderson. Authorities believe he has the couple’s two children with him.

Gloria Allred says that more sexual harassment accusers of San Diego’s Mayor Bob Filner will come forward today. Allred is representing Irene McCormack Jackson in her lawsuit against the Mayor and the city of San Diego for sexual harassment. McCormack Jackson, the former Communications Director for Filner was questioned by San Diego County Sheriff’s investigators for over two hours yesterday and on her way out Allred spoke to some of San Diego’s media. She told KSWB FOX5 that she expects more victims to come forward and that she would be releasing more info today.

San Diego’s County Board of Supervisors is meeting this morning at 9:00 to talk about a contract for the Sheriff’s Department to patrol Grossmont and Cuyamaca community colleges. Along with a resolution to rename two county jails.

At 10:00 AM the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is giving media a sneak peak at Lindbergh Field’s newly expanded Terminal 2.

Former first lady Laura Bush is in town and at 1:15 this afternoon she is going to talk at the Global Travel Association Convention at the Convention Center

And finally tonight is the 30th annual National Night Out Against Crime. Law enforcement all over the county is celebrating.

Starting with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at noon showing off several of their stations and gear around the county.

Then tonight at 5:00 the El Cajon Police Department is welcoming the community into its station.

The National City Police are holding a cook at 5:00 tonight at the Las Palmas Park in National City.

La Mesa Police are having their event at the Target parking lot in Grossmont Center at 6:00 PM.

And at 6:00 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center there is going to be a Police and Fire academy for kids… with Jaws of Life and self-defense demos.

[trib_ndn vid=24998958]BOULEVARD, Calif. — A search was underway Tuesday for a man suspected of kidnapping at least one of two missing children, killing their mother and setting fire to a home in Boulevard, where the woman’s body was found, along with that of an unidentified child.

Hannah Anderson, 16, and Ethan Anderson, 8, may have been taken by James Lee DiMaggio, 40, who is believed to have been in a “close platonic r

elationship” with their mother, 44-year-old Christina Anderson of Lakeside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Anderson’s body and a dead dog were found as fire crews were extinguishing the blaze at DiMaggio’s home and detached garage at 2071 Ross Ave. shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said. The body of a child was also found as crews searched through the rubble of one of the burned buildings, he said.

Documents reveal argument during Mayor’s Office meeting


[trib_ndn vid=24998948]SAN DIEGO — Mayor Bob Filner’s chief of staff Monday turned over to the City Attorney’s Office notes from two high-level meetings in which sexual harassment allegations were discussed.

Lee-BurdickBy doing so, Chief of Staff Lee Burdick beat a 5 p.m. deadline to turn over the notes or be sued by the City Attorney’s Office.

According to City Attorney Jan Goldsmith, even though Burdick is a lawyer, she is not employed in that capacity, so she can’t withhold the documents by claiming attorney-client privilege.

The notes had been requested by reporters under California’s Public Records Act.

The documents cover meetings which took place June 20 and June 29.

According to the June 20 notes, then-Deputy Chief of Staff Allen Jones told Filner his behavior was unacceptable. In an adjacent margin, Burdick wrote, “Agree. People in my off. crying.”

[trib_ndn vid=24998514]SAN DIEGO – Mayor Bob Filner’s accuser Irene McCormack Jackson and her celebrity attorney Gloria Allred met with Sheriff’s investigators and a representative of State Attorney General Kamala Harris Monday afternoon.

Allred told Fox 5 the meeting was set up by the Sheriff’s Department as part of the investigation on possible sexual harassment charges on Mayor Bob Filner.

“What would have been surprising would be had they not reached out to us to ask our client questions,” said Allred.

McCormack Jackson is the first identified victim to come forward with allegations against the mayor.  Since McCormack Jackson, nine other women have also accused the Filner of unwanted advances.

Allred said she expects more victims to come forward.  When asked if she would be representing anyone else, Allred said more information would be released on Tuesday.
