The private attorney representing San Diego’s Mayor Bob Filner against the sexual harassment allegations is asking the City Council to pay him. Tonight in a closed door meeting City Attorney Jan Goldsmith will talk with the Council about picking up the Mayor’s legal tab and what their next move should be. So far seven women have come forward accusing the Mayor of sexual harassment and one intern has issued a declarations in support of the allegations. The Mayor has apologized for his actions and entered into two weeks of therapy but he has not stepped down and it doesn’t look like he’s going to.

San Diego’s City Council is still open for business Today they are going to talk about several things.

First a report that says the Convention Center has already reached 95% of its fiscal year goals.

An ordinance that would make city projects pay the prevailing wage.

Removing parking lots form Balboa Park’s central plaza

And the how much it’ll cost to use the new Central Library for a special event.

San Diego County Board of Supervisors is getting together this morning at 9:00. They are looking the San Diego County Fire Authorities master plan over the next five years.

At 5:00 tonight the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education is talking about if and how to explain the George Zimmeran / Trayvon Martin cases. A three year financial plan and the removal of senior projects from graduation requirements.

At 10:00 AM the FBI’s new Sorrento Valley headquarters will have its official ribbon cutting … Even though it’s been in operation for over two months now.

Then at 10:30 a news conference is set to update us on the case about a college student that was kept in a federal holding cell for five days without food or water. Reportedly the young man was so delusional with hunger he tried to eat his glasses.

And surfs is up. The National weather service has issued a high surf and rip tide warning for San Diego county beaches. The warning is in effect through sunday

Mayor wants city to pay for legal expenses


Bob FilnerSAN DIEGO – Mayor Bob Filner’s attorney is asking for the City of San Diego to represent the mayor in a case alleging him of sexual harassment towards a former employee.

San Diego City Council received a letter from Filner’s attorney Monday requesting the city to represent him and pay for legal expenses associated with a sexual harassment lawsuit, City Council President Todd Gloria announced Monday.

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith and City Council plan to discuss the letter and decide their next action Tuesday in a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. closed to the public.

Filner’s former communications director Irene McCormack filed a lawsuit a week ago claiming the mayor made several unwanted sexual advances and put her in a “Filner headlock.”

Since McCormack publically announced the lawsuit, six other woman have come forward with similar allegations.  Among the others to accuse the mayor of inappropriate conduct are retired Rear…
