AM Briefing from for July 26, 2013

The end of another bad week for San Diego’s Mayor Bob Filner.

Yesterday four more woman came forward and accused the Mayor of sexual harassment. Retired Admiral Ronnie Froman, Businesswoman Patti Rosco, San Diego State university dean Joyce Gattas, And the president of the Port of San Diego’s Tenants Association Sharon Bernie-Cloward all sat down with KPBS and added there stories of sexual harassment to the growing pile. Bringing the total number of Filner accusers to seven.

Then later that night the San Diego County Democratic Central Committee … Filner is a Democrat … voted 34 to 6 in favor of a motion asking the Mayor to step down

And the Mayor finally released the financials from a trip he took to Paris … this was before the sexual harassment scandal. That info showed that while Filner’s trip was paid for by the sponsoring organization San Diegans footed the more than 21,000 dollar bill to send the San Diego Police officers assigned to his security detail.

Our region’s government continues to move forward despite the Filner fiascos. This morning at 9:00 the San Diego Association of Governments is meeting about waving some financial requirements for potential bidders on the trolley’s blue line extension.

Then at noon Postal Workers United are scheduled to protest at Congressman Darrell Issa’s office. Issa a Republican just introduced a bill to reform the U.S. Postal Service

This afternoon at 3:00 in Chula Vista’s courthouse Arlene Anna Hernandez will be sentenced for gross vehicular manslaughter. Hernandez drove drunk crashing her car into the Otay Reservoir killing her 5-year-old daughter along with another child ridding wither her.

And today at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Military firefighters will conduct several controlled burns. So if you’re driving along in near the bass you may see some smoke up in the sky.
