AM Briefing from for July 15, 2013

Mayor Filner’s week is starting out bad. At 11:00 AM in front of San Diego’s City Hall the group of ex-supporters accusing him of sexual harassment is going to hold another press conference today. Last week they held one demanding the Mayor step down however they didn’t give any real info about what exactly happened. Filner responded in a video message admitting some wrong doing and saying that he will change his ways, but that he will not step down. Now the accusers have to follow through with their insinuated threat and revile the details of the sexual harassment.

One notable sentencing on the calendar today. First at 9:30 AM in San Diego’s Federal Courthouse the college student that attempted to rig a student election at California State University San Marcos is being sentenced. 22-year-old Matthew Weaver stole the identities of over 700 students at CSU San Marcos so he could rig a student election. He has pleaded guilty to wire fraud, access device fraud, and unauthorized us of a computer. He’s looking at two years nine months in federal prison.

And then this afternoon at 2:00 San Diego’s City Council is meeting. They are going to talk about appointments to the City’s Arts and Culture Commission, Overtime pay, and tonight downtown’s Property and Business Improvement District.
