Large crowds expected for Big Bay Boom
[trib_ndn vid=24922969]SAN DIEGO — Fireworks shows are scheduled throughout San Diego County tonight to conclude celebrations of the Independence Day holiday.
The Port of San Diego estimates that 300,000 to 500,000 San Diegans will venture to San Diego Bay to see the Big Bay Boom. Last year, the fireworks detonated in less than 30 seconds in a debacle seen on television and Internet video around the world.
August Santore of Garden State Fireworks said Wednesday that preparations for tonight’s show were going well. Fireworks will be launched from four barges on the bay.
The best viewing spots will be Harbor Island, the North Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Shelter Island and the Coronado Ferry Landing, according to the port. Spectators will also be allowed to bring chairs to view the show on Broadway Pier and the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal.
