San Diego racing events to heighten security
[trib_ndn vid=24742452]SAN DIEGO — Event organizers and law enforcement agencies across San Diego County are “retuning” their security plans in light of Monday’s deadly explosions at the Boston Marathon.
“We’ll see more obvious presence as far as police and security,” said John Martinez with San Diego’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, coming up in June. “We are planning to increase the number of response personnel in case of a mass casualty, we will also have officials on bicycles to have better coverage of the area.”
Martinez said the same goes for this weekend’s ITU Triathlon in Mission Bay, for which he serves as medical director.
Officials with the AMGEN race to be held next month in Escondido are also gearing up security, they said in a statement:
