Marathoners from San Diego Track Club ‘Ok’

SAN DIEGO – Twenty members of the San Diego Track Club took part in the marathon Monday along with scores of other people from San Diego County, which has “a very large running community,” according to the club’s president.

“As far as I know, everyone (from this area) is OK,” said Kate Garcia, president of the organization.

Boston Marathon Explosions AftermathAmong the track club’s contingent, 18 had completed the race when the explosives detonated, and the other two had not gotten close enough to the finish line to have been in any danger, Garcia said.

Law enforcement officials in the San Diego area were on heightened alert Monday while monitoring the aftermath of explosions that killed two people and injured over a hundred more at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
