Quentin, fans react to Padres brawl with Dodgers
[trib_ndn vid=24733997]SAN DIEGO — A new series is underway between the Padres and Rockies, but fans are still talking about the Thursday night brawl.
Both benches were cleared during the sixth inning when Dodger’s pitcher Zack Greinke struck Carlos Quentin in the left shoulder.
The fight lasted several minutes. Quentin, Greinke and two other Dodgers were ejected from the game.
“Those things are never necessary,” said William Downey, Padres fan. “But emotions get going and these guys are excellent ballplayers and they fight for their teams and sometimes they do things they probably regret.”
Major League Baseball issued Quentin an eight game suspension, which he plans to appeal. Friday he reminded reporters this isn’t the first time he’s been hit with a Greinke pitch.
