San Diego County is warning people that children and staff at Discovery Isle Child Development Center in San Marcos may have been exposed to Tuberculosis (TB).
A person recently diagnosed with TB may have come into contact with the kids and workers at the North County day care facility.
Health and Human Services Agency says the school may have been exposures at some time between March 11th & 12th of this year.
Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County Public Health Officer says “TB usually requires many hours of close, indoor contact to spread to others so most people who are exposed in classrooms do not get infected or develop the disease.”
In a press release San Diego COunty says “Children and staff who may have been exposed are being referred to their primary care providers for follow-up..Tuberculosis is not uncommon in the San Diego region. In 2012, 234 cases were reported in the county. Twenty-two cases have been reported to date in 2013.”
